FINALLY!!! Our first victory of the season was achieved in this keenly fought local derby with visitors Yaxley.
In a game that ebbed and flowed, the visitors started the better of the two teams and deservedly took the lead after 21 minutes. Curtis Webb scoring with a near post header from a poorly defended corner.
Webb had earlier fluffed his lines when sent through one on one with home custodian Paul Smith, who was quick off his line to apply enough pressure to see Webb fire wide.

However, although the better team for the opening thirty minutes Yaxley did not have it all their own way and Ciaran Turner should of done better when put through against Lewis Moat; he fired well wide. PNS were slowly edging back in to game and had long range shots from the outstanding Nathan Ginty and Andy Buckle, and both should of done better with their efforts, not forcing a save from Yaxley keeper Moat.
Just before the half-time break Star striker Alex Mcnally was sent clear only with the on rushing Moat denying him ,saving well at Mcnally's feet.

With a stern talking to at the half-time break Star came out a different and hungrier side. Reece Currie, who came on at the start of the second half for Antonio Montiero, made an immediate impact on the left hand side, coming close from short range. It was now only a short time before parity was surely to be restored. With mounting pressure being applied by the home team, finally the equaliser we deserved was scored. Good work on the edge of the box by Ginty in evading two Yaxley tackles,Ginty was able to play a defence spliting pass for the pacey Mcnally to round the keeper and slot the ball in to the open net.

With two Star efforts being cleared off the line, finally the winner was scored . A good passing move ended with Currie picking the ball up just in side the Yaxley box beating two defenders and scoring from a tight angle.
A great result for this young new team, with better performances a must it promises to be a exciting finish to the season.
