Peterborough Northern Star was originally formed as a village side from two brickyards, Northam in Eye and the Star brickworks in Peterborough during the early 1900’s before being renamed Eye United in the early 1950’s.

In recent times, as Eye United, the club found major success in winning the Peterborough Premier Division title three seasons out of four.  In 2000-01 the club had a most notable achievement, setting a league record, when they became Champions, winning all 30 league games in the same season, adding the Peterborough Senior Cup and the Jack Hogg Charity Shield to the honors.

In 1982 they won the Northants FA Junior Cup.  In 2000 they reached the Junior Cup final again this time losing to Corby Cottingham.  A move into Peterborough in 2003 enabled them to make the step up into the United Counties League, and into the Football Association pyramid system.  In 2005, ending a 23 year wait they won the NFA Junior Cup again beating Blisworth in the final.

The club was renamed Peterborough Northern Star in 2005, after its original name, and that season reached the NFA Junior Cup final again, this time beaten by Wellingborough after extra time.

The 2007 - 08 season saw them finish runners-up in Division One after a run of just one defeat in 16 games after Christmas.  Season 2008 - 09 saw them win the Division One Championship and the Northants Junior Cup, beating Bugbrooke in the final.  The Reserves also had a good season finishing as Reserve Division Two Champions and gained promotion into the UCL Reserve Division One.

The first phase of a planned ground improvement programme aimed at Southern League standard was completed in 2009 when floodlighting and covered seating accommodation were added.

Season 2009 - 10 saw the Reserves maintain their presence in Reserve Division One and also reach the UCL Reserve KO Cup Final, plus winning the Northants Lower Junior Cup.  They also entered an Under 18 side in the Northants Senior Youth League in order to develop younger players that can progress into the higher standard of football.

They finished runners-up in Division One for the second time in three seasons, having won the championship in between, and were promoted to the UCL Premier Division as well as winning the prestigious Hinchingbrooke Cup, at the first attempt, beating Southern League opponents Biggleswade Town in the final.

The season 2010 - 11 was probably the best season in the clubs history so far with all three teams winning silverware, the first team finished 6th in their first season in the Premier Division as well as winning the UCL KO Cup for the first time.  The Reserves also finished 6th and won the NFA Junior Cup being only the second Reserve side to achieve this.  The U18’s also won their league and also won the play off Championship to become overall Champions of the Northants Senior Youth League
